WFDA will soon be actively soliciting our members to make contributions to WFDA Political Action Committee (PAC) as well as move their current contributions from the Friends of WI Funeral Service conduit to the WFDA PAC.
In the past, WFDA employed a conduit rather than a PAC as a means of coordinated political donations. Both are similar approaches in that both collect and distribute personal financial donations combined into a single contribution made to candidates for state office. However, the conduit is difficult and time consuming to administer. WFDA originally initiated giving through a political conduit because election laws in the 1970s placed prohibitive limits on the amount any particular campaign account could accept each year in PAC contributions. Recent changes to those election laws have removed the cap on the amount each campaign may accept in an election cycle and have made the use of a PAC a better option for many organizations who regularly make political contributions.
