Fawn Schaefer

Fawn Schaefer began her career in the funeral service industry over 20 years ago. She received her mortuary science degree from MATC in 2000 with plans to use that as a stepping stone to the medical examiner’s office, but instead fell in love with this industry.

Fawn has been involved with the WFDA just as long as her career. She previously served as the Southeastern District Vice President and then President while working at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington. Now, after relocating to Ballhorn Chapels & Zimmer Westview in Sheboygan, she is the Lakeshore District Board Rep on the WFDA Board. 

Fawn played a large role in the first successful Professional Women’s Conference held earlier this year. When past president Jenna Krenz voiced her desire for creating this conference for women in Wisconsin who might not have the opportunity to join meetings at the national level, Fawn was immediately in. She believes that it is so important to have this space to discuss issues that women find in the mostly male-dominated industry. She’s excited to welcome more attendees to the 2023 conference in Elkhart Lake, WI which will be moving from a one-day to two-day event, full of speakers and education opportunities.

Additionally, Fawn sits on the newly formed WFDA Education Committee, tasked with reviewing and revamping continuing education courses to most benefit WFDA members. This team will be tasked with finding new course instructors and further building continuing education credits for all conventions and forums. 

Outside of work, Fawn spends her time with her husband and two children, along with reading, shopping, and entertaining.
