Convention Recap

Over three days, attendees came together to learn from cutting-edge professionals, earn continuing education credits, connect with colleagues and industry partners, celebrate professional milestones, and strengthen the funeral service profession in our great state. 

The convention featured a diverse lineup of educational sessions covering topics such as emerging technology in funeral service, victim services, non-profit programs that support families, legislative and regulatory updates, mortuary law, resilience in high-impact work, and practical embalming techniques. Members also had the opportunity to meet with exhibitors during two Vendor Showcase events, where they explored innovative products and services while building valuable industry connections.

Outside the classroom, attendees enjoyed several memorable networking events. The convention kicked off with the LDF Casino Night Fundraiser, bringing members together for an evening of fun while supporting the LDF's mission. On Tuesday evening, members set sail on the "PAC to the Future" Sunset Boat Cruise, raising funds for the WFDA Political Action Committee while enjoying beautiful views of the Dells, music from the '60s — '80s, and great company.

The convention also celebrated the accomplishments of our members during the Board Installation and Awards Ceremony, where WFDA welcomed its incoming leadership and recognized funeral professionals celebrating 25-, 50-, and even 70-year licensure milestones. Their dedication and service continue to strengthen our profession and inspire future generations of funeral directors.

As the convention came to a close, Mother Nature added an unexpected twist. A powerful storm moved through the Wisconsin Dells area, knocking out power across Glacier Canyon Lodge during the final afternoon of the convention. Despite the outage, attendees gathered together to hear the final two educational presentations without lights, presentation slides, or microphones! The experience served as a fitting reminder of the resilience, adaptability, and commitment that define Wisconsin funeral professionals.
