Nick Ficken | Nick Ficken began his career in the funeral industry in a unique way; private security in a hospital. Part of this role involved transporting bodies to the morgue and then funeral homes which allowed him to associate with funeral directors. From there, he shadowed a funeral director where his mentor noticed his personable skills and encouraged him. By 2010, Nick had achieved his funeral apprenticeship. Subsequently, he wanted to serve family needs more closely as well as continue to support their wishes, so he advanced in his career. After graduating from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 2015, Nick then moved back to his hometown of Mosinee, WI. Working at Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee, WI allows him to gain multiple community connections along with building rapport and trust among individuals and their families. Currently, Nick is the Wisconsin Valley District Representative to the Board and previously the Wisconsin Valley District President for two terms. He was inspired to increase his leadership role within WFDA to continue establishing connections, both locally and statewide, and guide the association. Nick believes the benefits of WFDA are unmatched due to resources that cannot be found elsewhere. These include the healthcare program, legal consul, and a direct line to the state which provides support and guidance to members. Furthermore, connecting with nearby family firms and getting to personally know funeral directors by name has proven to be an ongoing strength. When Nick is not working, he enjoys being outside hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He currently coaches a youth trap organization for a local school. Nick wants to touch people’s lives by providing them with the best service and growing the industry that he loves. |
